Applications will be accepted for new cooperative agreements to experienced organizations to provide nonprofit organizations with capacity building training, technical assistance, and competitive financial assistance. |

-To provide funding for lead organizations in well-defined geographic communities with a proven track record of community involvement and experience in providing training and technical assistance to smaller grassroots organizations;
-To stimulate grassroots organizations, whether secular or faith based, to maximize their social impact as they provide services to address economic recovery issues present in their communities; and
-To help low-income individuals secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, obtain better-quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and federal benefits and tax credits. |

Workshops designed to familiarize residents with the city’s program to purchase foreclosed homes in the 85225 ZIP code and convert them into permanent affordable housing.
The City Council will use federal stimulus dollars to form a nonprofit land trust to purchase foreclosed homes. The trust will retain title to the land and the homeowners will purchase only the home itself. The program includes homeowner education and counseling services, and buyers may be eligible for down payment assistance. |
