In an effort to continue to track the distribution of federal funds allocated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Equal Voice for America's Families Coalition will send out updates about upcoming hearings, public actions, requests for proposals, updates and resources regarding expenditure and allocation of stimulus dollars at the state level.

WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT FUNDING AVAILABLE IN ALABAMA

Who: Governor Riley’s Office of Workforce Development
What: Soliciting proposals for programs to assist eligible adults and dislocated workers with short term occupational skills training throughout the Alabama Workforce Investment Area.
Goals:

-To provide training for high demand, high growth jobs; and
-To provide training for green jobs that provide career pathways to green industries available in Alabama.

Who: Small Business Development Centers of California (SBDC) and Business Matchmaking
What:

Free half-day sessions for small business entrepreneurs to learn about opportunities for contractors implementing the Recovery Act. The sessions will feature buyers for state and federal projects, buyers from large corporations as well as local panelists who will offer insight into the latest developments in surety bonding and local workforce investment initiatives.
