In an effort to continue to track the distribution of federal funds allocated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Equal Voice for America's Families Coalition will send out updates about upcoming hearings, public actions, requests for proposals, updates and resources regarding expenditure and allocation of stimulus dollars at the state level.

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY GRANTS AVAILABLE IN GEORGIA

Governor Perdue’s Office of Workforce Development |
| What: |
Accepting applications for 40 Golden Opportunity Grants, offering up to $10,000 in stimulus funding to any Georgia agency or organization to conduct Work Ready skills gap training and successfully help Georgians improve their Work Ready Certificate level.
The awarded organizations will receive $200 for each Georgian who successfully improves their Work Ready Certificate level through training provided by them.
Please note: This is a reimbursement grant only based on successful results. |

Soliciting proposals from qualified governmental entities and non-profit organizations to receive stimulus funding through the Neighborhood Clean-Up Program.

| Goals: |
-To provide work experience and training to hard-to-employ populations, including the formerly incarcerated;
-To provide intensive one-on-one support for participants to resolve barriers to longer-term employment; and
-To provide professional development services such as workshops on problem solving, communication skills, workplace literacy, financial literacy and job interview training to participants. |

Accepting applications from public, private or nonprofit organizations with eligible diesel equipment to receive funding through the stimulus funded Reduce Emissions from Diesels (RED) project. |
| Goals: |
-To promote job creation or retention;
-To serve areas with the highest population densities or are in poor air quality areas;
-To maximize the useful life of certified engine configuration or verified technology; and
-To conserve diesel fuel or encourage the use of ultra low sulfur diesel in non-road diesel engines. |

-To target services to unemployed individuals, high school dropouts, individuals with a criminal record and disadvantaged individuals living in high areas of poverty;
-To provide sound recruitment and referral strategies;
-To integrate basic skills and work-readiness training with occupational skills training;
-To combine supportive services with training services to help participants overcome barriers to employment; and
-To provide training services at times and locations that are easily accessible to targeted populations. |
